Most Seen: Chelsea Star agreed to join Man City "says agent"
Chelsea midfielder
Jorginho had agreed to join Manchester City in the summer before the Blues
swooped to sign him at the last minute, according to the player’s agent Joao
Santos.
The Citizens believed they had signed the Italy
international before a deal fell through late on, with the passer then choosing
to stay with Maurizio Sarri and move to London.
Jorginho has made a fine start to his career at
Stamford Bridge, helping the Blues to a perfect beginning to their campaign in
the Premier League.
The Italian found the back of the net on the opening
day of the season at Huddersfield Town to announce his arrival at Chelsea, and
is already looking like being a big player for them.
It could have been so much different for all parties
however. Jorginho was close to signing for Manchester City and he could
currently be shining for them instead.
The midfielder’s agent has explained what happened
between the player, the Premier League champions and Chelsea throughout a
chaotic summer.
telling Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“There was an agreement, but there was no agreement
between the clubs. All parties have to agree, and one did not. “Then Chelsea
asked what the situation was after Sarri arrived and Jorginho went to London.”
The Italy international had been playing under the new
Chelsea boss at Napoli, and transformed his career in a five-year spell which
saw him register 160 appearances for the Serie A outfit.
He then followed Sarri to Chelsea for a fee believed to
be in the region of £50 million. The move, and
his subsequent form, has earned him a place back in the Italy squad, where he
will hope to be involved in their UEFA Nations League clash against Poland on
Friday evening.
Once the international break is over, the Blues host
Cardiff City in the Premier League as they look to maintain their perfect
record. Jorginho is set to be a key feature for the Londoners in that contest.
