OMG: Giroud hints at extending stay at Chelsea despite not starting under Sarri
The World Cup winner joined from London rivals Arsenal in January on an initial 18-month loan deal
Olivier Giroud has hinted he could be
set to extend his stay at Chelsea, despite rumours of a possible exit beginning
to circulate.
The World Cup winner left London rivals Arsenal in the January
transfer window and signed
on an 18-month deal.
Giroud also has the option of another 12 months but, with his
playing time limited under new boss Maurizio Sarri, it has
been suggested that he could leave the club.
But now the 31-year-old, who is yet to start a Premier League
game this season, says he might yet stay.
“I still have one year of my contract plus an optional year in
option,” he is quoted as saying by Telefoot.
“I spoke with the management, which is currently in favour of
this additional year.”
The powerful striker arrived in the Premier League in 2012, joining
the Gunners from Montpellier.
After five-and-a-half years in north London, he moved west and
has since scored three goals in 16 Premier League outings for Chelsea.
