Congratulation see the Three Chelsea Star who Spain recall
Three Chelsea stars receive Spain call-ups
New Spain boss Luis
Enrique has named his first squad for their upcoming friendlies against England
and Croatia.
Spain will take on
England on Saturday, September 8th and Switzerland on Tuesday,
September 11th as they look to bounce back from a disappointing
World Cup campaign.
Alvaro Morata
returns
Enrique’s squad does
feature a lot of the usual names you would normally find in the Spain side.
However, there are a few
surprise call-ups this time around.
One name that stands
out, in particular, is Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata.
Morata had a solid start
to life at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard scored six
goals in his first six league games for Chelsea.
But in the second half
of the 2017/18 season, Morata would manage just two league goals.
As a result, the
Spaniard was left out of Spain’s 2018 World Cup squad.
Now, however, under
Maurizio Sarri, Morata does look to be slowly improving and even ended his goal
drought when he scored vs Arsenal in Chelsea’s second game of the season.
Alonso &
Kepa make the squad
Morata is not the only
Chelsea star to receive a call-up from Enrique though.
Chelsea’s
record-breaking keeper Kepa has also made the squad but it is likely he will
still play second fiddle to David De Gea.
Chelsea full-back Marcos
Alonso has also been called-up for Spain.
This is hardly
surprising given the start to the season Alonso has had.
In just three games
Marcos Alonso has scored one and assisted four from left-back.
